Interior Style Hunter Interviews Alex and Michael Christou from 1.61 London

28th February 2017
161london

My first meeting with Alex and Michael Christou was in their Mayfair apartment off Park Lane. It’s not often that a design firm has a finished product to be able to hold meetings in and show off their work. I knew it then, and after two meetings with Alex and this interview, I know that these two brothers are no ordinary design firm. They have built a hybrid solution that crosses seamlessly between being a developer and interior designer. What is…

The Ardmore Collection by Cole & Son

14th February 2017
Khulu Vases- The Ardmore Collection- Cole & Son

I’ve mentioned Ardmore a few times both on Interior Style Hunter as well as my social media channels. They are a South African Ceramic Studio that creates incredibly unique and bold designs and I always try to make time to see them when I’m in South Africa. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that they had done a collaboration with Cole & Son, the iconic wallpaper brand. I was very excited to see the result of the…

2nd February 2017
Kim_Stephen

I was recently introduced to Kim Stephen and we met up last week in Barnes to discuss interior design, Kim’s recent move to the UK and colour, a lot of colour. Kim is from South Africa, so we probably could have spoken for hours on end. I was so inspired by the colour used in these projects that I couldn’t wait to get this interview up on Interior Style Hunter. Prepare yourself for lots of colour… What is your design…

Dawn Bench from Duistt

31st January 2017
DAWN BENCH

The Dawn Bench, designed by Olga Torres, the CEO and Founder of Duistt, was one of the stars of Maison et Objet. It immediately caught my eye when I passed the Duistt stand and I noticed it being shared widely on social media too. It’s a masculine shaped bench with a bold personality, I love the little flourish of fur that just adds a luxurious touch. The legs are in bronze and the upholstery 100% cotton velvet. This is the…

Ribbon Chair from Object Studio

30th January 2017
ribbon chair object studio

Sometimes you need a statement piece in a space to make it work. Something bold, strong and beautifully made. Something like the Ribbon Chair which I recently saw at Maison et Objet. It was sitting on a plinth, cleverly conveying the message that this isn’t just a piece of furniture, but rather something to be admired, a piece of sculptural art. We asked them to take it off the plinth and move it to the floor so we could sit…

Nomon Home – The perfect solution for bijou spaces

26th January 2017
nomon home

I saw some beautiful pieces of furniture amongst the chaos that was design week in Paris. Over the next week I’m going to be sharing some short quick posts about what I found and really loved. Firstly, this collection from Nomon Home was really beautiful. Their pieces are the perfect solution for small bijou spaces. I love this dressing table, it’s very feminine, so not for me personally, but I do appreciate that the design is so beautiful and it’s…

Thoughts on Interior Design Trends 2017

6th January 2017
interior design trends 2017

Perhaps this post is a little more about setting intentions for myself in 2017 rather than interior design trends 2017, but being exposed to interior design on a global level and especially in London, I feel like I’m well placed to put into words what I’ve seen changing in the wider interior design marketplace as well as able to interpret trends from the many conversations that I’ve had with interior designers. This post is a little bit different from traditional…
