The world famous department store, Harrods, have launched their first furniture collection for their Harrods of London range designed by the Harrods Interiors team. This iconic store has been retailing furniture since the early 1880’s and with all that experience behind them, it was very exciting to pop along to the store to see what they have created.
The Harrods Interiors team showed me their latest collection a few weeks ago. Inspired by Art-Deco jewellery and tailoring, this new collection is a celebration of design and the finest materials.
Together with twills and velvets from Savile Row, Harrods partnered with heritage British furniture manufacturer Artistic Upholstery and casegoods have been created by world-renowned Italian furniture brand, Porada, to create this new collection.
Annalise Fard, Director of Home at Harrods:
“We are thrilled to be launching Harrods of London’s first furniture collection this spring. Designing a furniture collection in-house was the next step after the relaunch of Harrods Home four years ago. Since then, we have introduced new brands in a range of styles across the furniture department, curated collections of lighting and accessories, and moulded Harrods into a design destination like no other.
“The elegant designs created by the Harrods Interiors team bring together contemporary understated finishes and the finest materials. A nod to Harrods heritage and the 1930s, brings an air of sophistication to the collection; I love how the clasps of each of the occasional pieces encase the marble table-tops, so evocative of the solitaire setting of a ring.”
The Parkside Armchair (above) is my favourite piece in the collection, I love the brass detailing on the base of the chair, it’s also very wide and extremely comfortable to sit in.
The Carraway Drinks Cabinet (below) is a real statement piece, and the two brass handles on the front of the cabinet were inspired by a set of earrings. I love how the designers extended the lines of the handles to wrap around the cabinet. It’s a beautifully made and very impressive piece.
The Harrods of London furniture collection will available to buy in-store at Harrods, early in March 2017.
