When I’m abroad, I try and head to the local Sunday market. Markets are great places for up and coming and new designers to try out their products and test to see if there is a demand. It’s often possible to spot some new interior design talent too.
I was in Prague last weekend, so headed to the market on Sunday to see what I could find. Firstly, I was very impressed with it, there wasn’t the usual nonsense imported from China. Almost all of the stalls were young designers showcasing and selling their work. This is how markets should be. The place was buzzing and I could tell that there was a lot of trade going on.
There weren’t many interiors products being sold, but I did come across a brand called Kartoons. This brand is all about sustainable lifestyle. Their products are made from recycled and sustainable materials. I was very impressed with the level of quality and finish of these products. In particular the large tripod lamp. I couldn’t find these on their website, but I’m sure if you send them an email they can sort something out for you.
They have some innovative products, like these very cool stools. Further below is a clock and a wine rack. You’ll see from the images that sustainable design doesn’t have to be boring.
Kartoons is a great little find and the quality and finish of their designs is superb. Do check them out.
