Best of British Interior Design at 30 Casson Square

In the show apartment on the 27th floor, Interior Designer Portia Fox has used organic arcs and curves to soften the angular lines and linear architecture, showcasing the space and natural light to make the most of the open plan design. 

Bold use of vibrant blues, pinks, greens, oranges and golds are a nod to the former dye works in the area, while grain blackened timber and blackened bronze finishes are reminiscent of the coal and timber yards that used to dominate this part of London.

Considering that SouthBank was the location for the Festival of Britain in 1951 to celebrate the best of British innovation, Portia has cleverly commissioned the majority of the furniture to be made locally by skilled British artisans, with spectacular one of a kind designs. Every piece has been thoughtfully created to invoke a feeling of calm and tranquility, subtly drawing the eye to the incredible views and balancing out the minimalist architecture of the apartment.

A classic example of this is the straw marquetry dining table by Simon Orrell Designs which boasts a strong geometric print with rounded edges, mirroring the curve of the London Eye visible through the nearby window. Soft rounded chairs in a neutral colour finish the look, and are a perfect pairing to the blue birds-eye maple cocktail bar credenza that subtly divides the dining room from the living room. 

The fantastic pivoting coffee table, made of patinated metal, was manufactured by Novacastrian and echoes the pattern of curves throughout the apartment, which combined with the vibrant blues, quirky prints and neutral greys creates a warm and welcoming living room area with a unique focal point.

Every area in the apartment has been carefully designed and thought out, taking into consideration the open plan space and the need to be able to transition between work and entertainment, week day and weekend.

This thoughtfulness of design flows into the bedrooms too. The main bedroom, clad in natural materials like cotton and wool boucle, plays with texture and tone while maintaining the feeling of calm and serenity as you look out over the vistas of London. 

Residents also have access to the ultra-lavish Health Club & Spa, designed by Goddard Littlefair.

The spa includes all the luxury amenities one would expect in an extravagant five-star hotel, including saunas, steam rooms and a vitality pool, but in a far more private and refined environment. The health and fitness facility offers residents the opportunity to connect in a calm and elegant environment, with state-of-the-art equipment in the gym and studio space for classes. There is also a private residents lounge available for socialising and connecting with other residents.
