Maurizio Pellizzoni is an interior architect. He grew up near Lake Como and has a long history of interiors in his family. Maurizio works at the luxury end of design. I’m so inspired by Maurizio’s work and love the images that he shares on his social channels every day. I’ve been so inspired by two projects that Maurizio has done. The first is a Surrey mansion (images above) and the second is a lodge in Ascot (images below). I do hope you enjoy this interview as much as I do.
What is your design signature/style?
My signature is modern, timeless and elegant, each project is tailor made to the client’s way of living and reflects their personality. My work varies from project to project, from a contemporary loft in Shoreditch to a family Mansion in Surrey.
What type of people do you love to work with as clients?
For me, it is important to connect with my client, the first impression is usually the deciding factor as to whether I take the project on or not.
Can you tell us about a particularly exciting/challenging project?
I think each project is exciting and challenging at the same time. I love the initial design phase when we’re working as a team. We are learning how the client wants to use the house/space but I also love the final dressing of the project with accessories, as this makes the whole design come alive. My Surrey Hills Country Mansion project was probably the most exciting challenges I have ever faced due to the size of the property and the time we needed to spend on it to fulfil the brief.
Does your home reflect your professional style?
My home is very eclectic, I love texture and I can definitely say I don’t live in a minimalist place, so just like all of my projects, it is a beautiful place to live filled with a collection of objects sourced during my trips – they bring the place to be life and it’s a personal space.
What’s next for your business?
I am currently working on some very exciting projects, but also working on some product development, which is something new for me. But I love to be creative and I like the idea of collaborating with some great international companies – #watchthisspace
Which designers do you currently have your eye on?
I don’t think I have one favourite designer, I never have. I usually look at what is around me and get most of my inspiration from fashion and architecture.
If someone reading this was about to begin their own home redesign project, what would be your best advice to them?
My advice to all of my clients or anyone who is starting a new redesign project is to always take the time to understand what we want from the space and not to rush at it. One of the most common mistake people make is to get too carried away and try to add too much to the space.
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about Maurizio, you can contact him through his website at Maurizio Pellizzoni. I’m going to leave you with the images from his Ascot lodge project.
