Slowing down into Autumn and embracing Hygge, my #AWMoments with Christy

Whether it’s in a bookstore or an interiors magazine and all across the blogosphere, the word ‘Hygge’ is popping up. According to the Telegraph, this Danish word is pronounced “heurgha” (imagine the sound you make clearing your throat) and defined as:

“the absence of anything annoying or emotionally overwhelming; taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things”.

How wonderful is that? The absence of anything annoying or overwhelming… what bliss. And that ties beautifully into the season of Autumn where we take the time and think about slowing down and preparing for the cold winter ahead.

The lovely team at Christy recently contacted me and asked me to write about what I love about the Autumn and Winter seasons and to celebrate their new collection.

One of the things that I always do in Autumn is to refresh bed linen and bathroom towels. There’s nothing nicer than new linen and bath towels. Going into Autumn you want to change from lighter fabric weight to something heavier and more luxurious (and warmer) to create that feeling of hygge in our bedrooms and bathrooms.

Christy sent me a set of French Grey Luxe towels for me to try out in the spirit of hygge. I have to admit, that hygge is probably the right word to use for these towels, remember the definition above, the absence of anything annoying or overwhelming, these towels are just that. Perfect.

Made using a heavyweight Turkish cotton sourced from the Aegean region in Turkey. It is a mature long staple fibre creating a smooth yarn which is very soft to touch. The maturity of the fibre increases it’s ability to capture and hold water extremely well.  for the ultimate hotel inspired range of towels. As a gent, the bath sheet is really large, 90 x 165 cm, which is a good size too.
