The Edinburgh Grand defines modern Scottish luxury

The Edinburgh Grand defines modern Scottish luxury

When last did you venture up to Scotland and in particular, Edinburgh? Well you’d be quite surprised if your last visit was a few years ago. The city has been quietly transforming itself into an efficient modern city, with its focus on luxury. Manifesting in the birth of the Edinburgh Grand.

With the introduction of a tram that runs through the centre of the city and to the airport. To the vast development work that has gone on around St Andrews Square, making this the new centre of town. Harvey Nichols, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, The Ivy, Dishoom and the Edinburgh Grand have moved in around this square.

I’ve been up to Edinburgh a couple of times this year to watch the progress of the Edinburgh Grand being built. It’s been an absolute joy to see this historic building come to life and regain it’s place as the centre of Edinburgh life again.Edinburgh Grand

Starting out as the Royal Bank of Scotland’s headquarters, this iconic building is well known amongst the people of Edinburgh who know its banking halls and offices so well.

The Lateral Group have taken this historic building and carefully restored and kept every piece of original feature possible. The interiors have been interpreted as modern Scottish luxury. Being the first 5 star establishment to open in 10 years in the city, the interior designer was very aware that the final product would be a serious interpretation of what Scottish luxury is today.

“Every detail has been carefully considered – from the beautiful art deco inspired interiors celebrating the building’s amazing heritage, to the cutting-edge technology in each of the apartments. The EdinburghGrand is the ultimate home from home, and we know it will surpass every expectation.” General Manager of Lateral City Apartments, Gavin MacLennan

Original dark wood panelling, fireplaces, brass door handles, cornicing all meet contemporary fabrics, furnishings and a thoroughly new modern way of using this iconic space.

Each residence is equipped with smart televisions, Bose sound systems and intelligent heating controls. Each has a fully fitted top of the range kitchen too. Bathrooms feature drench showers and oversized baths in addition to luxury products courtesy of New York beauty brand Malin + Goetz.

Travelling is a joy when you get to stay somewhere like the Edinburgh Grand. I do admit that I’ve never looked at luxury serviced apartments as an option when travelling. But working with Lateral City Apartments on both their Old Town Chambers property and the new Edinburgh Grand has really influenced the way I book travel.

Coming home from a busy day and being able to relax in a living room with a kitchen makes it all seem so homely. Isn’t that what we really want to feel when we’re out exploring the world.
