It’s been a year since I started writing Interior Style Hunter and what a journey it has been! China, Hong Kong, Paris, Italy, South Africa, the Kipling Suite at Browns Hotel and so much more still to do for the rest of this year. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the readers and followers of Interior Style Hunter.
Of course, you can’t have a first anniversary without celebrating in style, so I teamed up with Browns Hotel to create a memorable event. Browns have recently completed their largest suite, called the Kipling Suite, after the famous author, Rudyard Kipling. He wrote the Jungle Book at Browns Hotel and what a fitting time to host my event in the Jungle themed suite with the Disney film having recently launched too.
My guest list was rather short as I wanted it to be an intimate gathering where we could all celebrate and enjoy the luxury surroundings.
Designed by Olga Polizzi, the Rocco Forte Hotels’ inhouse interior designer, this suite will blow your socks off – as it did ours. The Lewis & Wood statement wallpaper sets the tone of the suite, when you walk into the entrance, the wall is mirrored and this reflects this gorgeous wallpaper.
So much thought and detail has gone into the design of this suite. I was very interested to get the views and opinions of some of the well known designers and interior specialists who were guests at my event. Everyone was impressed with the work that had been done. Three things in particular, the accessories that had been sourced really told a great story about the room, Kipling and London. The wallpaper that was used in the hallway was scaled up in size and used in the bedroom, this was a great hit! And lastly, the 16sqm (172sqf) masterpiece of a bathroom got lots of ‘wow’s!’ The Arabescato white veined marble in the bathroom is absolutely beautiful and it has been so well fitted. It’s simply beautiful to look at.
My favourite space was the bedroom, I loved the styling on the dresser. This space was very brave for a hotel to execute, but it works so well and it’s a very special room to spend the night in.
There is also a framed letter in the suite, written by Kipling while he was staying at Browns. It’s these little touches that really make this hotel suite beyond just a suite and more of a home. Copies of Kipling’s books are scattered around the suite too.
It was a very special way to celebrate the first anniversary of Interior Style Hunter, and I would like to thank Browns Hotel for their incredible support.
